What is a QR code?

A QR code, or Quick Response code, is a type of barcode and an example of which can be seen below. The code consists of black modules within a white background and have become popular due to their flexibilty and large storage capacity. Originally created for the automotive industry, we feel they are particularly relevant to the property industry. Give the code below a scan to test it out.

How does it work?

Most smartphones nowadays come fully equipped with a "barcode scanner" application. If not they can be easily found on the Android Market and Apple Store and can be downloaded for free. Our plan is to either integrate a unique code, like the one above, that is relevant to an individual property on both the for-sale board and property particulars. Imagine passing a property in the street that you liked the look of but wanted a to know the property price, agent contact details or have a look at the pictures. A quick scan of the code on the for-sale board will direct you (suitable to internet signal strength) to our website, where full details of the property will be displayed. Similarly, all our properties in our office window display will have a unique QR code that allows you to have a look at the property before entering our office and requesting a viewing!

We feel that this could make the house hunting process more simpler and despite being a relatively new concept, the increasing availabilty and development of smartphones will allow a larger audience to take advantage.
